Bale Tulu Lipit Pudar Bareka” Held at Historic Udyavara; Request Submitted for Tulu Lipi Board
An awareness program titled “Bale Tulu Lipit Pudar Bareka” was organised by Jai Tulunad (R.), Odipu Unit, on February 1, 2026, at Shambukallu Temple, Udyavara, Odipu, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
Udyavara, known as one of the earliest capitals of Tulunadu during the reign of the Alupa kingdom, holds great historical significance. The program, held at this culturally rich location, aimed to raise awareness of the Tulu script among the general public and encourage its revival and everyday use.
Tulu lipi teachers Santhosh N. S. Katapady, President of Odipu Unit, Prajnashree M. Kodavoor, Secretary, Pragathi S. Manipal, Executive Member, Shilpa Keshav Kodavoor, Tulu Lipi Script In-charge of Odipu Unit, and Rohini Kalmady guided participants in learning the script and writing their names in Tulu. Members, including Supriya Akhilesh Devadiga Bailoor, Organising Secretary, Ambika Rao Kannarpady, Treasurer, Aishwarya Shetty Innanje, Vice Secretary, Dr Nithish S. A. Korangrapady, Vice Treasurer, Chethan Kaup, Executive Member, and Prashanth Kunjoor, Social-Media In-charge of Odipu Unit, were present and actively contributed to the success of the event.
On this occasion, Aishwarya Devadiga Odipu and Shabhareesh were formally awarded Tulu script certificates in recognition of their successful completion of the Tulu script examination. As part of the initiative, a request was also submitted to the temple administrative committee to display the name of Shambukallu Temple in Tulu script, promoting its visibility in public spaces. Additionally, Tulu learning charts, shawls, and books were made available for the public, further encouraging interest in the language and script. The program witnessed enthusiastic participation and marked another significant step towards preserving and promoting Tulu's rich linguistic and cultural heritage.
