Brahmavar, Nov 2: Under the auspices of the Jai TuluNad organization, a unique program titled "Tulu Lipi Singara" (Adornment of Tulu Script) was held in Barkur, which once gleamed magnificently as the capital of Tulu Nadu.

The event featured the installation of a Tulu script nameplate and the release of the "Allige" Tulu script font—developed by Prahlad Tantri—at the revered Sri Panchalingeshwara Temple.

The program commenced with the offering of floral tributes to the portrait of Tuluvappe (Mother Tulu). Presiding over the event, organization vice-president Vishu Sreekera stated that a day must come when a multitude of Tuluvas from every nook and corner of Tulu Nadu will gather in Barkur.

Inaugurating the event, Barkur Gram Panchayat President B. Shantharam Shetty noted that there are numerous historical records and stone inscriptions proving that Barkur served as the capital of the Tulu state more than 800 years ago. He emphasized that the responsibility of preserving this heritage lies with all of us and that the government's attention must be drawn to this matter.

Manjunath Rao, head of the Barkur Sri Panchalingeshwara Temple, addressed the gathering. Dr. Akash Raj Jain, a descendant of the Alupa royal dynasty and former member of the Tulu Sahitya Academy, remarked that the Halmidi stone inscription—discovered first in Karnataka—contains references to the Tulu language and Tulu Nadu, and that 56 Tulu script stone inscriptions, over 1,500 palm-leaf manuscripts, and several epic poems have been discovered.
Journalist Shashi Bandimar was present on the occasion.

 Shantharam Shetty of Barkur and Prahlad Tantri were felicitated. Sumanth Hebri provided information regarding the "Allige" font, and certificates of appreciation were presented to teachers instructing the Tulu script.

Treasurer Rakshith Raj welcomed the gathering, while General Secretary Avinash Mukkala delivered the introductory remarks. Akshatha Kulal read the citation, Sushma Devadiga compered the program, and Sharath Kodavoor proposed the vote of thanks. Joint secretaries Rajesh Tuluve, Suresh Nayak, Kiran Tuluve, and others assisted in the event.
