Inauguration of Tulu Script and Language Classes at Bengaluru Bunts Association School by Jai Tulunad Bengaluru Forum

On 21 June 2026, under the leadership of Jai Tulunad Bengaluru (Regd.) and with the cooperation of the Bunts Association Bengaluru (Regd.), the programs "Bale Tululipi Kalpuga" (Tulu Script Learning) and "Bale Tulu Paterga" (Tulu Language Learning) were inaugurated at the Bunts Association RNS Vidyaniketan School located in Vijayanagar, Bengaluru.

The event was attended by Mr. Vijay J. Shetty, Honorary Secretary of the Bunts Association Bengaluru, and Pushpa Rakesh Bangera, owner of Varnila Printers, as chief guests. Dr. Deepak Shetty Barkur of the Bunts Association inaugurated the Tulu script classes. The program was presided over by Vinay Maniyan, President of Jai Tulunad Bengaluru Forum. Honorary Advisor Nidheesh Shetty and Tulu Script Committee Incgarge Anudeep Shetty were also present.

In his inaugural address, Dr. Deepak Shetty said,

"Since the inception of Jai Tulunad Bengaluru Forum, I have been observing the programs being conducted in Bengaluru. Along with preserving the language, culture, and history of Tulunadu, creating awareness about our own script is a highly commendable effort. I will always extend my support to this organization."

Chief Guest Vijay J. Shetty stated,

"Along with preserving the Tulu language and script, it is equally important to preserve cultural traditions of Tulunadu such as Kola, Kambala, and Naga worship."

President Vinay Maniyan and Honorary Advisor Nidheesh Shetty elaborated on the Tulu script classes and the efforts involved in building and strengthening the organization.

Banashree Avinash of the Tulu Language Committee provided information about the history and evolution of the Tulu script.

On this occasion, the second edition of the book "Tulu Baravuda Aisira", published by Jai Tulunad Bengaluru, was released in the presence of students, teachers, and parents.

The classes were ceremonially inaugurated by having children write Tulu letters on grains of rice placed in traditional winnowing baskets and by writing the names of the guests by guests themselves in the Tulu script.

The President of the Bengaluru Bunts Association, CA Ashok Shetty, appreciated the efforts toward promoting language and script learning. He himself learned the script and set an example for others. Dhananjaya Acharya, In-charge Supervisor of the Central Tulu Script Committee, also attended the event.

The Tulu script classes were conducted by teachers Raksha Kulal, Tripti Shetty, Shivani Poojary, Dhanaraj Kulal, Shubhakara Naik, and Anudeep Shetty. The Tulu language classes were handled by Banashree Avinash, Geetha Jayaprasad, Ashwini Gatti, and Prashanth S.P.

Vice President Sharath Kodavooru spoke about the special features of the book "Tulu Baravuda Aisira."

Others present at the event included Organizational Secretary Guru Devadiga, Joint Organizational Secretary Nitesh Bangera, founding member of Jai Tulunad Forum Yatheesh Mundodi, Executive Committee members Prashanth M., Sudarshan Acharya, Priya Yatheesh, Dhavala Acharya, Viji Kapikad, Jitesh Kulal Tokkuru, and Shashank Acharya, as well as Jayaprasad Kulal, Incharge of Jai Tulunad Bengaluru Sahityodaisira, and Vice Incharge Nalini Kulal, among many others.

The introductory address was delivered by Joint Secretary Pradeep Shetty. Treasurer Archana Rai welcomed the gathering, Joint Secretary Meghna Rakshith delivered the vote of thanks, and Secretary Akshay Acharya compered the program.
