Jai Tulu Nadu (Regd.) Karkala Unit: Tulu Script Book Release and One-Day Workshop

Karkala — The Jai Tulu Nadu (Regd.) Karkala Unit recently organized a grand event featuring the release of a Tulu script book titled "Genada Bolpu" alongside a one-day Tulu script learning workshop. The programme was held at Sri Sai Sabhabhavana, Samrudhi Complex, Bajagoli, under the presidency of Mahesh Kulal Beladi, President of the Karkala Unit

The event was formally inaugurated by Sri Krishna L. Shetty, who praised the organizational efforts of Jai Tulu Nadu. He emphasized that the Tulu script must expand to wider regions and advocated for Tulu to receive official language status.

Dr. Akash Raj Jain, former member of the Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy and a descendant of the Alupa dynasty, officially released the "Genada Bolpu" Tulu script book through the traditional cultural custom of placing paddy into a kalasha (sacred pot).

He lauded the continuous campaigns led by Jai Tulu Nadu for the promotion of the Tulu language and script. He urged everyone to join hands to ensure the success of their tireless struggle, encouraging people to not only speak Tulu in their daily lives but also step forward to learn the script. He expressed confidence that the newly released book would successfully reach the hearts and minds of the masses.

Speaking on the occasion, Sri Ajith Hegde noted that Tulu is not confined to just a single region. He pointed out that while many people speak Tulu, awareness of its dedicated script remains low among the general public—a vital gap that Jai Tulu Nadu is actively working to bridge.

 

Prashanth Kunjur (Udupi Unit Publicity Committee Coordinator and Editor of the Tulu Script Book) was warmly felicitated with a traditional shawl for his valuable contribution.

 

Unit President Mahesh Kulal Beladi delivered the presidential address, highlighting the milestone achievement of the Karkala unit.
