New Tulu Learning Software 'Baravu-Saravu' Unveiled in Kaup to Boost Tulu Script Revival

KAUP: In a significant step toward the preservation and digital promotion of the regional language, the launch event of the 'Baravu-Saravu' Tulu script software and mobile application was successfully held at the JCI Bhavan in Kaup.

Jointly coordinated by the Jai Tulunad Organization, the software has been meticulously developed by a tech team comprising Harshith Devadiga, Chaitra Poojary, and Banashree Avinash.

Key Highlights of the Launch Event:
Inauguration: The event was formally inaugurated by Akash Raj Jain, a member of the Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy and a descendant of the historic Alupa dynasty. Speaking on the occasion, he emphasized that the Tulu Sahitya Academy and Jai Tulunad are working hand-in-hand to foster awareness of the script. He lamented that despite its ancient roots and rich history, Tulu is yet to receive its rightful official status as a state language.  

Software Unveiling: Retired teacher and speaker Shekhar Kalmadi unveiled the application. He urged the younger generation to shed any cultural hesitations and take pride in learning Tulu, stressing that safeguarding the language means preserving the rich traditions and heritage of Tulunad. 

Presidency: The event was presided over by Vishu Srikara, President of the Jai Tulunad Organization.

Empowering the Next Generation: About 'Baravu-Saravu'
Designed to make learning the ancient Tulu script accessible and engaging, the newly launched software and mobile application feature:

Comprehensive digital learning charts for Tulu letters, numbers, days, months, and directions.

Interactive digital worksheets allowing users to practice writing directly on screen.

Step-by-step video tutorials and built-in Tulu-English vocabulary dictionaries.

A unique archive of vintage Tulunad photographs to connect younger generations with their historical roots. 

Felicitations and Dignitaries:
The developer trio—Harshith Devadiga, Chaitra Poojary, and Banashree Avinash—were felicitated during the ceremony for their technical contribution to the language.
Prominent figures including former Tulu Sahitya Academy member Tara Acharya, Kaup JCI President Deeksha Kotian, and Jai Tulunad Vice President Jagadeesh Gowda graced the stage. 

The event commenced with a welcome address by Tulu script educator Rajesh Tuluve Upparu, followed by an introductory note from Jai Tulunad General Secretary Avinash Mukka. Organization Secretary Prithvi delivered the vote of thanks, while Pavitra J. Kotian served as the master of ceremonies.
