The Mangalore-based organization Jai Tulunad (Reg.) has officially marked a monumental milestone in regional linguistics with 'Kopparige' – The Modern Era Tulu Lexicon.

Launched to safeguard the linguistic richness of Tulunadu for upcoming generations, this pioneering online dictionary bridges centuries-old traditions with 21st-century digital innovation.

The brain-child of developer Sumanth Poojary Hebri, Kopparige represents the culmination of tireless dedication. A dedicated team of approximately 20 members spent over six years shaping the platform from the ground up.

Beginning with a modest baseline database of 1,200 words, the project has set an ambitious target of cataloging up to 100,000 words, establishing itself as an exhaustive digital granary for the Tulu-speaking global diaspora.

Breaking Linguistic Barriers:
Kopparige is engineered to be uniquely inclusive, setting it apart from traditional print lexicons:

Multilingual Meanings: Tulu entries are seamlessly translated into Kannada, English, Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu.

Native Script & Audio Support: Words are meticulously documented using the traditional Tulu script, paired with built-in audio clips to ensure accurate pronunciation for learners worldwide.  

Rescuing Rare Vocabulary: The platform serves as a vital digital sanctuary for ancient and archaic words that are rapidly fading from daily conversation.

Crowdsourced Expertise: Through an integrated 'Suggestion Box', language enthusiasts can submit new entries, which are rigorously vetted by linguistic experts before official publication.
