Demonstrating a profound commitment to preserving the linguistic and cultural heritage of coastal Karnataka, St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), in association with the Jai Tulunad (R.) Kudla Unit, successfully hosted a one-day workshop titled "Tulu Lipi Polabu" yesterday. The event, held at the Joseph Willy Hall in the Maffei Block, brought together students and enthusiasts for an immersive experience in the Tulu script.

The workshop served as a vital initiative to revive interest in the Tigalari script, which is deeply intertwined with the identity of the Tulu-speaking community. Participants were guided through a comprehensive curriculum that balanced historical context with practical training.

Distinguished Instructors and Training:

A highlight of the day was the hands-on instruction provided by a team of dedicated experts. The participants benefited from the guidance of renowned Tulu script exponents: Uday Poonja Tharipadigutthu, Rajashree Chandrashekar, Shilpashri Tuluvedi, Chirashree Deralakatte, Rohini Shetty Manel

The experts provided personalized instruction, helping attendees move from basic character recognition to writing their names and simple sentences in the traditional script.
