Tulu Lipi Awareness Drive Conducted at Paddedra, Padubidri
Jai Tulunad (R.) Odipu Unit conducted the “Bale Tulu Lipit Pudar Bareka” program on 3 May 2026 at Shree Mahalingeshwara Shree Mahaganapathi Temple, Paddedra, Padubidri. The program aimed to promote awareness of the Tulu script and encourage the public to learn to read and write in Tulu, contributing to the preservation of the language and its cultural identity. The “Bale Tulu Lipit Pudar Bareka” initiative encourages people to learn to write their names in Tulu script, thereby fostering interest in the language and strengthening their connection to Tulu culture. Participants actively engaged in the activity and showed enthusiasm for learning the script.
The session was led by Tulu script teachers Santhosh N. S. Katpady, President; Aishwarya Shetty Innanje, Vice Secretary; Prashanth Kunjoor, Social Media Incharge; and Pradeep Shetty, Vice Secretary of Jai Tulunad (R.), Bengaluru Unit, who guided the participants effectively. Other members present included Mahesh Moily, Treasurer of the Karla Unit, and Dhavala, an Executive Committee Member of the Bengaluru Unit, who extended their support for the successful conduct of the program.
A large number of participants took part in the initiative and experienced writing in the Tulu script. Among them, Dr Deviprasad Shetty Belapu, Kambala Samithi State President; Dr K. Prakash Shetty, Founder and Chairman of the MRG Group; and Dr Y. N. Shetty, eminent Tulu scholar, were present and wrote their names in Tulu lipi, appreciating and encouraging the team's efforts. Nithin Nalluru, Vice President of the Karla unit and Nagesh Padubidri also extended their full support in organising and successfully conducting the program.
