Tulu Lipi Awareness Strengthens Cultural Connect by Jai Tulunad (R.) Odipu Unit at Kodavoor during Maharudra Yaaga Punyodaya
Jai Tulunad (R.) Odipu Unit conducted the “Bale Tulu Lipit Pudar Bareka” program on 19 May 2026 at Mahatobara Shree Shankaranarayana Temple, Kodavoor, Odipu, on the occasion of Maharudra Yaaga Punyodaya. The program aimed to promote awareness of the Tulu script and encourage people to learn to read and write in Tulu, supporting the preservation of the language and its cultural identity. The “Bale Tulu Lipit Pudar Bareka” initiative encourages people to learn to write their names in Tulu script, thereby fostering interest in the language and strengthening their connection to Tulu culture. Participants actively engaged in the activity and showed great enthusiasm in learning the script.
The session was led by Tulu script teachers Santhosh N. S. Katpady, President; Prajna Shree Kodavoor, Secretary; Supriya Akhilesh Devadiga, Organising Secretary; and Pragathi S. Manipal, Executive Committee Member. Other members present included Supreetha Puthran Malpe and Suresh Naik Havanje, who helped ensure the program ran smoothly. Susheela Jayakar Kodavoor, Vice President of Jai Tulunad (R.) Central Committee, and Sharath Raj Kodavoor, Vice President of Bengaluru Unit, were also present and encouraged the initiative.
A large number of participants took part in the program and experienced writing in the Tulu script. Among them, prominent personalities such as Prasad Raj Kanchan, owner of Kanchan Hyundai and organiser of the Maharudra Yaga Punyodaya; Hariyappa Kotian, businessman from Malpe; Supreetha Bhaskar, advocate; Harish Shetty, advocate; and Deepak Jain, Public TV reporter, participated by writing their names in Tulu lipi and appreciated the efforts of the team.
Sanjana Acharya, who secured first place in the Tulu Lipi Junior Exam by scoring a perfect 100 out of 100, received her certificate from Prasad Raj Kanchan during the event.
